No matter who your parents are, they can still be embarrassing.
Which is why 9-year-old Princess Charlotte’s reaction to her parents Prince William and Kate Middleton’s sweet kiss is so relatable.
After Kate shared she’s completed her chemotherapy treatment in a Sept. 9 video—which featured William and Kate with their three children, including Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 6—fans noticed a hilarious, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment from Charlotte.
Towards the end of the video, while the family of five is celebrating Kate’s news on the beach, William plants a chaste kiss on his wife’s cheek as she lies in the sand. And in response to the sweet and brief moment of PDA, Charlotte looks completely shocked.
As one user perfectly summarized the moment on X, Charlotte seems to be saying, “REALLY PAPA?!”
And the funny moment is just one of many sweet interactions between the royal family within the 3-minute clip. Others include William, 42, bravely rescuing Charlotte from an insect in her hair (and then scaring her with it just a moment later), as well as George asking in a close-up shot whether the camera was filming while his younger brother issues series of enthusiastic hellos.
It's a fittingly happy family backdrop to the positive update on Kate’s cancer treatment.
As she shared, “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.”
And while noting how difficult the last nine months since her diagnosis were on her family, the Princess of Wales also reflected on the ways her health journey has shifted both her and William’s perspective on what’s important.
“This time has above all,” the 42-year-old added, “reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”
Kate also shared insight into her future with her royal duties. While noting she will begin taking on some engagements within the coming months, she emphasized, “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
And amid sharing her family’s gratitude for the support they’ve received, Kate also had a special message for those going through similar health challenges.
“To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand,” she finished the update. “Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”
